This is how desperate I feel...

Paula, Victoria, BC

March 11th, 2014

Here's a dirty little secret about how awful it is when you're in so much pain and the prospect of enduring that pain for the length of the time, years, that you're on a wait list for surgery, hip replacement to be specific. Chronic intractable pain changes you and the prospect of trying to endure it for years can drive some people to take extreme measures. It can cause depression, some people begin to have thoughts of suicide to escape it, even when they have lives they cherish. When your faced with those kinds of thoughts and you don't want to end your life but you're desperate to stop the pain, you start to consider other options. The option of taking a fall to break your hip to speed up the process. I know two people who've done this and while it's probably not something that most people could bring themselves to do, who knows how many have, you wouldn't exactly be open about it. This is how desperate I feel, I am considering this.
