I was a young healthy and fit female

Tanya, Regina, SK

May 2nd, 2023

I am from Saskatchewan, I was a young healthy and fit female driving a motorcycle who tboned a van that did an illegal uturn. Fully covered by SGI, I am left fighting these systems to get better. It took 4 years of me complaining, being told I’m “faking” to finally convince the health care to give me an MRI with contrast. That MRI showed 2 torn labrums, and yet I cannot get the surgery I’m needing. The government has restrictions on and I cannot get the out of province help I am needing. This June will mark 7 years of living with chronic pain. My insurance company said I have 2 options, pay for surgery myself or get more medical evidence that I indeed need surgery. They have me suffering between a rock and a hard place. Daily struggles doing the simplest tasks, mental anguish from fighting these big systems.. all just for the help I’m in need of from my accident. What happened to Canadian health care?
