I am appalled...

Sherry, Victoria, BC

July 17th, 2014

I am appalled that our system is really only handling chronic illness rather than focusing on prevention as well. The wait list for colonoscopies in Victoria is ridiculous. It is a test that can simply save lives. Surely it is more cost effective to have routine screenings that have someone go through the system with surgery, chemo etc. etc. etc. This preceeding comment is only addressing monetary issues. The emotional and physical strain on patients waiting for tests is cruel. I chose to go to a private clinic because I am blessed to be able to do that, but it not equitable health care and not a solution for people with reduced incomes.
