Painful knee...

Sharon, Surrey, BC

September 18th, 2018

I first saw the doctor about 13 years ago in regards to a painful knee as even at that time the waiting for a specialist was too long. They recommended a brace which did help some and I worked hard to keep fit,saw Chiropractor plus had Durolane injection at private clinic.

By 2012 I could barely walk and was on a year waitlist to see Orthopedic specialist in Surrey. My function and pain was not tolerable so I again sought help with a private MRI and visit to specialist referral clinic thus I had my knee replacement done is 2 months instead of 2 years!.Now my left knee is deteriorating so I went back to see a specialist at the private clinic,he gave me a monovisc injection which helped for awhile.I saw another private physician for a PRP injection and another monovisc injection which has kept me mobile for a few months now.I don't know what I am going to do the next time the pain is severe.I guess I will have to go across the border to US for treatment as I no longer will be able to access private care in my own province.Private clinics are a necessity in the healthcare system for those who can afford it thus helping shorten the wait for others.
